Horde

10596724Goodreads Synopsis:    The epic conclusion to the USA Today bestselling trilogy.

The horde is coming.

Salvation is surrounded, monsters at the gates, and this time, they're not going away. When Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan set out, the odds are against them. But the odds have been stacked against Deuce from the moment she was born. She might not be a Huntress anymore, but she doesn't run. With her knives in hand and her companions at her side, she will not falter, whether fighting for her life or Fade's love.

Ahead, the battle of a lifetime awaits. Freaks are everywhere, attacking settlements, setting up scouts, perimeters, and patrols. There hasn't been a war like this in centuries, and humans have forgotten how to stand and fight. Unless Deuce can lead them.

This time, however, more than the fate of a single enclave or outpost hangs in the balance. This time, Deuce carries the banner for the survival of all humanity.

My Thoughts:

-    This was a great and satisfying ending to the trilogy!

-    We finally get to find out why this is called the Razorland Trilogy. It didn't make sense until the very end.

-    Fade and Deuce have had quite the journey, and I really love how their story wrapped up. I loved the relationship between Fade and Deuce. They love each other, but that doesn't get in the way of their duties.

-    I did get tired of Deuce pining for Fade so much. Fade had to deal with some PTSD, and she had to give him some space, but he pining got old!

-    This series is definitely 16 and up. There is some crazy violence! It was thrilling and exciting, but it was violent.

-    Prepare for some heartache, cause there is plenty! There is also a lot of hope and peace though.

-    Mama Oaks, Edmund, and Rex are the unsung heroes of this story. I love their unconditional love and support as Deuce's family. Mama Oaks is awesome!

-    I loved all the other character we got to meet in this book, especially Morrow, Tully, and Spence.

-    I loved the range of emotions I felt through this series! The author did a great job of making the reader feel different emotions and get attached to the characters.

-    Not my favorite series, but definitely a good one!

Outpost

Outpost (Razorland, #2)Goodreads Synopsis:    Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

My Thoughts:

-    Love triangle in a zombie/mutant book?  Puhlease!

-    Fade became this needy, moody, possessive boyfriend.  Almost like a certain vampire I wish hadn't been invented.  Fade should have stayed the strong mysterious guy.  Stalker was more a man than he was in this book.

-    All our characters have to move on from their past, and it isn't easy.  I loved how the author addressed each character's horrible past and how they were coping.

-    Deuce is starting to understand what it is to be a girl.  She calls it weak.  I call it being a girl.

-    There are some slow points in the book, but there were also some major intense scenes as well.  Some of the intense stuff is gruesome.

-    I loved that Deuce got to experience a normal family life with the Oakses.  They are so kind, and I just love them!  I also loved Longshot.  He was such a great mentor character.

-    I didn't like this as much as the first one.  I wanted a little more action.  There was action, but I wanted more!

-    The ending killed me!  It isn't the worst cliffhanger, but I'm dying to find out what happens!!!

-    I wish I could fight and be as fit as Deuce.  I also love her name.

Enclave

Enclave (Razorland, #1)

From Goodreads:   WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE

In Deuce’s world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed ‘brat’ has trained into one of three groups–Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.

As a Huntress, her purpose is clear—to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She’s worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing’s going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce’s troubles are just beginning.

Down below, deviation from the rules is punished swiftly and harshly, and Fade doesn’t like following orders. At first Deuce thinks he’s crazy, but as death stalks their sanctuary, and it becomes clear the elders don’t always know best, Deuce wonders if Fade might be telling the truth. Her partner confuses her; she’s never known a boy like him before, as prone to touching her gently as using his knives with feral grace.

As Deuce’s perception shifts, so does the balance in the constant battle for survival. The mindless Freaks, once considered a threat only due to their sheer numbers, show signs of cunning and strategy… but the elders refuse to heed any warnings. Despite imminent disaster, the enclave puts their faith in strictures and sacrifice instead. No matter how she tries, Deuce cannot stem the dark tide that carries her far from the only world she’s ever known.

My Thoughts:

-    This was pretty good for the first zombie apocalypse book!  I might try some more later.

-    The underground society was like an ant or bee colony.  Everyone had a job.  Even the names were similar, like builder or hunter.

-    The above ground stuff reminded me a lot of I am Legend.  I liked this book better though.  I wasn't a fan of that movie.  I feel like the zombies/freaks were close to same in both.

-    Between reading segments, I felt like I needed to ration food and check my back a lot.  Crazy what some books will do to you!

-    I liked the relationship between Fade and Deuce most of the time.  I'm not a fan of Stalker.  I would not associate with him EVER!  Tegen just pulled at my heartstrings.  I felt so bad for her.

-    I really want to know what happened to the College Enclave, and I'm eager to read the next book.
