Star Wars #11 - #15

27425564Goodreads Synopsis:    Chewbacca unleashed! Skywalker in chains! Han Solo...with a ball and chain?!

My Thoughts:

-    I love this cover! So much Chewy love!

-    Whoa! C3P0 saved Chewy!?!? That was both awesome and surprising.

-    Kongo looks like an evolved cyborg rancor. Cool!

-    The gamemaster intrigues me. There is a lot more to him.

-    Lots of action in this issue. The fight between Chewy and the bounty hunter got my blood pounding!

-    The last 3 panels are SO epic! One of the best moments in the series.

-    The art never ceases to amaze me. I love the artist for these.

27853412From Goodreads:    It is a period of renewed hope for the Rebellion. On his quest to learn the ways of the Jedi, Luke
Skywalker has been taken prisoner on the infamous moon Nar Shaddaa by Jedi artifact collector GRAKKUS THE HUTT.

Forced into a fight to the death with Kongo the Disemboweler, Luke is struggling to survive. Unbeknownst to Grakkus, his Gamester has sold him out to the Empire. Meanwhile, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Sana, the woman claiming to be Han's wife, are traveling to Nar Shaddaa in response to the distress call about Luke from the rebel fleet.

Chewbacca and C-3PO, having arrived on the Smuggler's Moon first, encounter a bounty hunter named Dengar who plans to use Chewie as bait. Han arrives just in time to fight to reclaim his friend and continue the search for Luke....

My Thoughts:

-    Another amazing cover!

-    The way Chewy took care of Dengar was so awesome! Never piss off a Wookie!

-    I love the environment in these comics. Not only do the characters look amazing, but the settings do too.

-    OMG! Leia, Han, and Chewy are wielding lightsabers!!! I can't even express how awesome this is! I'm geekin' out!

-    I like the gamemaster. Even though he is evil, I still like him.

-    The story just keeps getting better! Well done Jason Aaron!

28075386From Goodreads:    Bringing together the smash-hit Star Wars and Darth Vader series! Leia comes face to face with true evil!

My Thoughts:

-    The series gets a little weird and jumps around because this is Issue #3 of Vader Down.

-    I LOVE the Beetee and Artoo standoff!

-    Triple-Zero's dialogue cracks me up!

-    I really enjoyed seeing Aphra and Han go head to head, but a head bonk? Really?

-    I can't help but feel bad for the evil droids. I like them too much.

-    This is getting confusing. I'm cheering for the bad guys and the good guys simultaneously as they fight and rip each other apart.

-    Uh oh Leia!

Star Wars #14Goodreads Synopsis:    VADER DOWN PART FIVE Chewbacca versus Black Krrsantan! What else do you need? Marvel's first Star Wars event continues!

My Thoughts:

-    Whoa! Evil Admiral Ackbar with General Grievous arms! Crazy!

-    There are a lot of different battles going on in this issue. Love it!

-    The face Luke makes when he gets with with the butt of the gun is HILARIOUS!! I can't stop laughing!

-    What is up with Leia!? First she is all kamikaze, and now she wants to take out Vader all by herself!? She is nuts! Kudos on her take charge gutsiness though.

Star Wars #15
From Goodreads:    FROM THE JOURNALS OF OBI-WAN KENOBI. Another tale of Obi-Wan's exile on Tatooine! Owen Lars took Luke in...but he refused to let Ben be part of his life. Why? What trouble could have been stirred up by Ben protecting Luke?

My Thoughts:

-    Hooray for another Ben Kenobi issue! He should really get his own series.

-    I love how adolescent Luke is portrayed! Ha!

-    Love the artwork! I especially love the illustrations of Obi-Wan fighting off the sand people.

-    Great story! I want more from Obi-Wan!

-    I love how it shows Obi-Wan talking to Qui-Gon, but I wish we got to see Qui-Gon's ghost or something.

Perfect Princess

93742From Goodreads:    Sleeping Beauty,
Victoria,
Cleopatra,
Snow White,
Elizabeth,
Pocahontas,
Mia Thermopolis:
all princesses
Do YOU have what it takes
to be a princess?

princess mia will help you find out

Best-selling Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot and acclaimed fashion artist Chesley McLaren team up again to display this clever royal roster of princesses of the world. Big or small, old or new, fact or fiction, our favorite princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo (aka Mia) will point out why these princesses rule, and how any girl can too!

My Thoughts:

-    This was a random book about real and fictional princesses.

-    The illustrations are so simple yet fun!

-    Why didn't this book make it into the YA Non-Fiction section? It is just like the other ones

-    Mia and Lilly really compared Cleopatra to Britany Spears!?

-    I love that Princess Leia and Princess Mononke made it into this book!!

-    Why is this book considered part of the series? It could be a stand alone and companion novel. It doesn't have anything to do with the series.

Serendipity

My Thoughts:

-    For some reason, I haven't reviewed movies I've been watching. Sorry friends! I'll start to remedy that.

-    I sat down and was surfing Netflix, and I randomly decided to watch this movie. I knew nothing about it, but it had John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, so I said "What the heck?"

-    The movie was lame! Why do I even bother with chick flicks?

-    The whole movie is about the main characters looking for each other. They don't even interact that much. Ugh!

-    Jon and Sara's characters aren't that interesting.

-    Jon's best friend was the most interesting character. He was entertaining.

-    The music was weird, and never seemed to fit the moment.

-    John Cusack didn't age well. He was a lot cuter as a teenager, but his voice is awesome!

-    Kate Beckinsale is SO pretty!!

-    Overall, the movie was boring and nothing really happened. It was lame!

Holiday Princess

93730From Goodreads:    A princess always knows how to celebrate the holidays. There's Christmas, Hanukkah, Yule, Chinese New Year, Saturnalia . . .to name just a few.

Then there's gift giving, the royal Genovian Fabergé advent calendar, hot chocolate with marshmallows -- oh, and all those fabulous holiday movies. How will YOU celebrate this holiday season? Mia and her subjects have a few ideas.

My Thoughts:

-    I think it is weird and funny that this is a YA Non-Fiction book. Who categorizes these?

-    This wasn't as entertaining and informative as Princess Lessons.

-    The illustrations are really fun! The characters illustrated remind me of Audrey Hepburn, and I love that!

-    I liked the Christmas around the world chapter. It was fun to read how all the different countries celebrate Christmas and what they believe.

-    This book really isn't 10.1. It belongs earlier in the series. It doesn't really add to the series or anything. It is kind of a random side thingy.

Forever Princess

Forever Princess (The Princess Diaries, #10)Goodreads Synopsis:    What's a Princess to do?

It's Mia's senior year, and things seem great. She aced her senior project, got accepted to her dream college(s), and has her birthday gala coming up . . . not to mention prom, graduation, and Genovia's first-ever elections.

What's not to love about her life? Well . . .Her senior project? It's a romance novel she secretly wrote, and no one wants to publish it.Prince Phillipe's campaign in the Genovian elections isn't going well, thanks to her totally loathsome cousin Rene, who decided to run against him.Her boyfriend, J.P., is so sweet and seemingly perfect. But is he the one? And her first love, Michael, is back from Japan . . . and back in her life.

With Genovia's and her own future hanging in the balance, Mia's got some decisions to make: Which college? Which guy? How can she choose? Especially when what she decides might determine not just the next four years, but . . . forever!

My Thoughts:

-    We zipped through Mia's Junior and Senior year of high school! Thank goodness!

-    The Mia in this book is my favorite Mia so far. She has finally FINALLY matured a little. She is realizing that dumb things she used to spaz out about aren't that big of deal.

-    Lana really surprised me in this book and previous book. Her character has grown a lot, and she is one of the more interesting characters.

-    Whoa! Lilly has matured too!?

-    I loved Michael and Mia's relationship in this one. Lots of growth on both sides.

-    J.P. is a very absent boyfriend. He seems very different from the J.P. we first met. Mia is pretty dense when it comes to him.

-    This was probably the most enjoyable book in the series, but I don't think it is worth reading through all the crap and drama to get here.
