Bree and Katherine

I always forget to blog about going to author events! I need to be better about that.

On May 9th, I went to Bree Despain's launch party for The Eternity Key.
She calls this series The Little Series That Could because there has been so much opposition, but the series WILL be finished! It has been quite a journey for Bree, and I admire her for her diligence and determination to get this series published. I also admire her for loving her books so much that she would have rather seen the series die than put crap into her reader's hands.

Although she doesn't like to do it, Bree did a reading for us.

Jenni, Tori, and Suey were there too!

She also had these cool Cupid's Arrow rings. Each color meant different things. I chose black which was anti-love.

A blurry picture of all of us

On May 15, Jenni and I went to the Provo Library to see Katherine Applegate.

Here is Gene introducing the author:

Katherine had a great presentation. She told us the story of the real Ivan, and I was trying not to cry. She also told us about the book and the journey it took to being published.

I loved this picture! This is Katherine in her bed, in her pjs, with a notebook, and a TON of crumpled up pieces of paper. She said this is what an author looks like. Writing is process and it can be hard at times.

I bought the non-fiction picture book of the real story of Ivan for my daughter. Here is Katherine signing it.

This is the author signing The One and Only Ivan.

Another blurry picture with an author.

My new goal for the future is to bring a notebook and take notes and stuff during author events, and then I'll have info for blog posts!! I also try to put these up shortly after the event.

Ignite Launch Party

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of going to Sara Larson's launch party for Ignite!
It was fun!
Of course I went with my bestest book buddies Jenni, Suey, and Tori

Sara had a really great presentation. She talked about how glamorous her life has become since being published, or rather, how it wasn't, but it kinda was. She had a lot of great gifs to illustrate her journey through writing and publishing. Then she had a Q&A bit where her family asked funny and ironic questions.

What I got out of her presentation:
She likes Justin Timberlake a lot
She likes Chris Hemsworth a lot
I need to watch a skit where Jimmy Fallon and two other guys dress in drag and take a selfie.
She writes really fast

Here is Sara signing her book!

The author and the gang
Sara is really tall.

We went to Paradise Bakery afterwards for some food. It was my first time eating there, and I loved it! I highly recommend the blue cheese salad.

Shallee McArthur's Launch Party

Before the launch party, Suey and I made posters!
We've never done this before, but I thought it would be fun.

Here are our posters and Shallee. Suey is taking the picture, so Tori (her daughter) is holding her poster.

This was the launch party for The Unhappening of Genesis Lee. It is Shallee's debut novel.
She talked about her life long journey to becoming an author. It was a fun presentation. Her book was influenced by The Giver by Lois Lowry, her grandmother, and her baby brush. There was also 2 gifs of Richard Armitage! I requested Armitage, and Shallee delivered!

She had some amazing giveaways! She gave away bags with 2 books, some cool bracelets, swag for her book, candy, and a giant eraser. It was awesome! Suey won a bag!

Here is Shallee signing her book!

I think this was the last author event for a while. We've had a lot of them!
Next event: MOCKINGJAY!!!
