Goodreads Says: Prince Alexander has been turned into a werewolf and has one year to find someone to love the beast and break the spell, or he will be a wolf forever. He has nearly given up achieving the impossible, knowing no girl would ever fall in love with such a monster.
My Thoughts:
- Terrible take on Beauty and the Beast! This is one of the worst retellings I've read.
- The romance was ridiculous, sappy, and very childish. I just kept rolling my eyes at the horrible dialogue and thoughts.
- The book seemed choppy. The scenes didn't flow very well, and things seemed so disjointed.
- I hated getting beat over the head with the moral! Enough!! I get it!!
- I usually love fairy tale retellings, and I was looking forward to this one, but I was really disappointed, and I won't be continuing with the series.
I'm sorry this was so bad! (I felt the same way about "Beastly")
ReplyDeleteBad dialogue is the worst.
Ironically, my last post was about Beauty and the Beast too. We must all be in that mood. Did you read "Cruel Beauty"? I really enjoyed it.
Too bad this one was such a dud. Some retellings just can't seem to get it right.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! I love fairy tale retellings, and "Beauty and the Beast" is one of my favorite fairy tales. Disappointing this one didn't work out. I definitely don't like being hit over the head with morals either!
ReplyDeleteBummer! I usually love fairy tale retellings, but I've had some bad experiences with a few as well. Hope your next read is better.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of Jenni James' fairy tales books. I've seen them around and ended up trying a sample chapter or two of one of them (can't remember which just now). Just that little bit wasn't flowing for me, so I decided not to read any further. Now I'm doubly glad I didn't!
