Top Ten Best/Worst Movie Adaptations
Oh man! Where to start!?!? I wish I could list more than 10, but I'll keep it to that limit.
Best
The Lord of the Rings trilogy are awesome books and awesome movies!
To Kill a Mockingbird with Gregory Peck was a fantastic adaptation of the book! Like the book, it is a classic!
Matilda was one of my childhood favorites, book and movie!
Emma is my favorite Austen book, and I LOVE the mini series with Romola Garai
The Hunger Games movie was so much fun to watch! I can't wait for Catching Fire in November!
It is no secret that I'm a Tim Burton fan, and I love his version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was surprised at how accurate it was.
Worst
The Eragon movie was so bad that they didn't bother making the other 2! However, this is one of my favorite Rifftrax!
I almost didn't make it through this movie! I enjoyed the book, but the movie was atrocious!
I thought Ella Enchanted was ok as a movie, but the only thing similar to the book was the names of the characters. I don't really consider the two related.
Where The Wild Things Are was one of the dumbest/craziest movies I've ever seen! It's awful!
Eragon was a terrible movie. I've never read the book, but I'm positive it has to be better. Great list!

100% agree with Eragon! It and Ella Enchanted are both on my worst list, too. I actually haven't read Matilda, but I love the movie :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Eragon, but the movie was ghastly. Directors ought to know something about, you know, *acting* before they direct, instead of coming straight from doing special effects. (Actually, I've read bits of the book, and it's really, really derivative. Star Wars meets Anne McCaffrey, with elves.)
ReplyDeleteI love the movie Ella Enchanted, and the book is wonderful, but you're right, they bear very little resemblance to each other. I sort of take each one as itself and temporarily ignore the other creation-of-the-same-name.
Lord of the Rings and the Hunger Games made my list for best as well! I really liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I haven't read the book so am not sure how close they are. Great list!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
So, the funny thing is that I haven't read Eragon. I enjoyed the movie some, though, and all I hear is that it's this horrible adaptation. I guess I need to read the book and see why everyone hated it.
ReplyDeleteFor some odd reason I'm obsessed with the Ella Enchanted movie, I just love it. But when compared to the book I think it's a piece of trash, I just have to think of them as two different things.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest thing that bothered me about Beastly (NPH played Will so I let a lot of things just not bother me), was that they changed the name Kyle changed his name to. Just what was the point in that?
