Top Ten Seven Things on My Reading Wishlist
(Things I Would Make an Author Write About)
Dragons - I know this has been done, but I want more! More awesome dragon stories for YA!
Graphic Novels - I'm discovering that there are more out there than I thought, but I'd like more authors to delve into this genre.
ONE Love Interest - I would love to see a drop in love triangles and a rise in just ONE swoon worthy person.
Stories Set in Different Time Periods - I would love to see a book set in the 80s, 90s, 20s, and any other decade that was awesome!
Music - I'd love more stories that integrate music or musical instruments. I'd love a clarinet story, but any instrument would do...no trumpets.
Animals - More animals in a story too! I love it when the main character has a dog.
Stories Based on a Musical - It would be awesome to have a story based on Phantom, Singin' in the Rain, My Fair Lady, etc. I realize a lot musicals are taken from a book but a retelling would be fun.
Male Perspective - More YA books told from the guy's perspective. I enjoy reading from my gender's perspective, but lets change it up a bit and write for the men!

I agree, there are never enough books with dragons! :) Love triangles are starting to get really annoying, I'm all up for one love interest and more friendships between girls and boys! I love to read historical fiction, but I'd like to see more YA books in a historical setting. Nice list!
ReplyDeleteI like male perspectives too. Definitely need more of those!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I'd love more male POVs too, or more books that have a female and male POV - like Noughts & Crosses. A million times yes to just ONE love interest, I am soooo sick of love triangles! :)
