I'm Going to Hollywood!

Image result for universal studios los angeles

Jenni, Hava, and I have been talking about going on a girl's road trip for a while. We want to visit Prince Edward Island, but we thought that was a bit ambitious for our first trip together, so we are going to work up to that. We decided our first road trip should be closer to home, but still something we've all wanted to do and haven't. We are going to Universal Studios and Hollywood! Woo!

None of us have been to Universal Studios, and we want to see Hogwarts and drink butter beer. We are going to spend two days in the park and one day touring Hollywood. I'm really excited. I've never been to Hollywood. I want to see the walk of fame, and the place by the Chinese theater where I can put my hands in Audrey Hepburn's hand prints. We are going to hike to the Hollywood sign too!

We've been talking about this trip for a few weeks, but we actually booked our hotel! It just got real! We are going! Yay!

I have to say, I am really grateful to my friends. They have helped me so much during my time of mourning. It is still really hard, but my friends have made it a bit more bearable. I really value our time together. I love Jenni and Hava, and I would do just about anything for them. Thanks ladies!

It's a Girl!

I had my ultrasound yesterday, and we are having another girl! Gnome is excited to have a little sister! She wanted to donate it if it was a boy. We explained that we were keeping it either way!

Here are a few fuzzy pictures:

Arms and Hands

Apparently those two white dots on the right mean it is a girl.

Angry Monster Face

We are really excited! I'm thinking of painting the nursery a teal color.

I'm open to name suggestions! It needs to go well with Furr, and it can't start with D, Z, or K.
Those letters have been used. Fire away! Thanks!

Life Update

I don't usually write about my personal life, but I feel like I needed to write about what is going on with the crazy house hunt.

A lot of you know we sold are house, and we've been living with some friends since April. Well, we found a house. It seemed PERFECT! We were under contract to buy it, but then we had our inspection. We decided to back out. What was wrong with it you ask? Well!

-    Furnace didn't work
-    Water Heater needed some help
-    No cooling system whatsoever. No AC, no swamp cooler, etc.
-    There was about $1000 worth of plumbing we'd need fixed before moving in.
-    Electricity didn't work in 2 rooms of the house and the inspector didn't know why.
-    MOLD!
-    There were some areas where water was leaking in the house.

This is the real kicker. . .

-    There was a sex offender 3 doors down IN THE CUL DE SAC!!! He had 3 offenses in the last year. 2 of them were with children! The other one basically said he raped someone. I don't want to worry about a pervert taking pictures of my daughter while she rides her bike around the cul de sac.

Sooooooooooooooooo. . . we are back out there looking :( It is so frustrating and discouraging.

At least we have a nice place to live with good friends. Our living arrangements are pretty nice, so no complaints there.

I just want my own home! *sigh*

I'm never getting this book!

Dear person who has the 5th book of Amulet checked out:

There are 4 people on hold for this book, and you were supposed to return it on September 18. I have read the first 4 books in the series, and so has my husband and daughter. We are eagerly waiting to read the 5th book! It is mean and cruel for you to keep us waiting like this! Please return the book to the library ASAP!!

Sincerely,

An eager reader

Dear Provo Library:

Flashback Friday

Fan art isn't the only thing that Friday is good for!

When I was younger, my sister and two nieces liked to put on plays for our family. We did Peter Pan, Robin Hood, The Three Little Pigs, The Three Bears, and we had a Snow White one in the works.

We were pretty creative. We used the characters from the story and came up with our own ideas about how things happened. It was awesome! My favorite one we did was probably Robin Hood. It was our best. We had a lot of fun doing it, and the family got a kick out of it as well. We always tried to gather as many family members as possible to see our little productions, and they were merciful enough to sit and bear it.

My sister recorded our performances, and if she ever gives me a copy, I'll post one for you.

Did you ever put on plays with your siblings or cousins?

My Celebrity Crush List

This topic finds its way into a lot of conversations with my friends, so
I decided to just share with the world!

Do I find other celebs attractive? Yes, but these are the ones I crush on.

#1
Richard Armitage
No human being should look this good! My hard falling crush started while watching North and South. If you haven't seen it, WATCH IT!! You'll love it! I have to say my favorite thing about Mr. Armitage is that heart melting rare smile.

#2
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Down.... What I am saying?! I just get lost in his eyes XD
He used to be #1 until I discovered the hottness above. My crush started when everyone else's did. RDJ just gets better with age. I don't find him attractive when he was younger.

#3
Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler... I have a somewhat crush on this face in particular... Him as Leonidas though..!
I don't know what it is about him, but I just find him so darn hot. It might be the perfect V shaped torso, it could be his crooked smile, I don't know. He is just really attractive. You have to admit, he makes one dreamy Phantom.

#4

Don't make fun of me!

Martin Freeman
Martin Freeman everyone's favorite hobbit. And Watson.
My list of crushes use to stop at #3, but a few weeks ago I had this fan girly dream about being Martin Freeman's girlfriend. It was weird, and I woke up going "What the heck? Why can't I dream of Richard Armitage instead?" Anyway, since my dream, I find Martin Freeman a tad adorable, and yes, I'll admit it. I might have a little crush on him now.

Okay, time to spill it! Who do you crush on?

In Which I Converse with Ben Folds about Brigham Young

It is no secret that I'm a big Ben Folds fan. I follow him on Twitter, and last Saturday, he tweeted me back!!! I had a conversation with BEN FOLDS!!! EEEE!! The crazy thing is that it was about Brigham Young. It kinda made it more awesome!

Here is our conversation:

Last time in Salt Lake City my kids were photobombed by . See you Wed night at The Depot.

Embedded image permalink
That would be Brigham Young.

really? Oops! Sorry! And I went to the museum and everything!

It's alright. Maybe your guide was misleading.

looks like most images of BY depict a man with a beard tho. You sure?

Pretty sure. He has a cane and there are mountains in the background, and Joseph Smith never made it to SLC and never had a cane.

Brigham Young didn't have a beard in his younger days.

Oops thank you! You're right. Apologies to Smith and Young. (AND Smith and Wesson) KIDS: last photo is of Brigham Young

You're welcome! Glad to be of service.

p.s. I expect an awesome discount on tickets to your next concert in SLC now.

Sure. it's Wed night at The Depot. Solo Show

Dang! I have book club that night. I'll catch ya on your next trip here.

Then someone said:

Sod book club! Go see Ben!

I'm still kinda freaking out about this! Too bad I have book club tonight, or I'd go see him! I'd cash in on that discount too!

I Hate Nightmares

On Saturday night I had a horrible nightmare!

My husband had died, and I planned his funeral. I had to conduct the funeral, and I couldn't make it through. I had to take care of all sorts of affairs including writing a blog post about how I was taking a break from blogging. I couldn't eat or sleep. I just mostly cried. The worst part was it seemed so real! The pain of losing my husband hurt! I literally felt pain in my stomach. It was awful.

I woke up, clung onto my hubby and cried! When I have nightmares, the feelings from them linger for a while. It is awful. My stomach ached and felt tight, I was panicky and shaking, I couldn't stop crying from sadness, and I felt exhausted! My hubby was very sweet and held me until I got over it. I had to take a little nap even though I had just woken up from the night. Like I said, I felt exhausted from my dream. I slept for a few hours and felt a lot better afterwards.

People tell me I have a really strong imagination, and that is why my dreams always feel real, and the feelings from them linger when I wake up. My brother says it is from reading too much. I guess you really can have too much of a good thing! I'm not going to stop reading though!

Sucked In

My reading, and life in general, was put on hold for the last couple days because I was sucked in to this:

I watched Season 1 on Netflix a while ago, and ABC was in the middle of showing Season 2, so I was pretty upset. I didn't want to jump in the middle of a Season, so I've been waiting. My sister finally told me I could watch Season 2 on Couch Tuner. Well, I started watching and couldn't stop. My family, home, and everything else has been ignored for the past couple days while I've devoured this show.

I finally finished the season last night, and OMG!!! Now I'm dying for Season 3! The ending is  a horrible HORRIBLE cliffhanger! At least I'm all caught up now, and I can enjoy Season 3 this Fall with the rest of you!

I should also get back to life and reading. My daughter could use some attention as well...hubby too.

My Uncle's Funeral

It was a very fitting Memorial Day weekend for me. My sweet Uncle Ivan died, and we had his funeral on Saturday. He was a veteran, and they gave him a military send off. It was very special to the family, and amazing to witness.

My Uncle did a lot in his life. Mostly he was remembered for his service in the military and his service to scouts.

Here are his medals.

He was buried in a military cemetery. It was so humbling and awesome to see all those graves with flags for Memorial Day.

Here is his coffin with the flag draped over it.

A soldier saluting while they played taps and shot the guns.

Folding of the flag.

Presenting the flag to my Aunt Loretta.

Each of their children were presented with a flag as well.

This was my Uncle's oldest brother. He consecrated the grave.

Between losing one of my favorite people and witnessing all the patriotic stuff, I was a mess. I cried a ton! It was a day I will not forget.

Happy Memorial Day!
Thanks to all the veterans and for all they've done for me and my country!

Tragedy Strikes

My parents came over yesterday, and the told me that someone very dear to me had passed away.

My Uncle Ivan has been a huge part of my life, and we have a very special bond. He had a massive heart attack in his 30s that killed about 3/4 of his heart. He should have a died a long time ago, but God kept him alive for another 40 years. I love my Uncle very much, and the news really rattled me. I had a good cry, and I'm doing better.

Going to the funeral is a must for me, so we'll be in Arizona next week. Which means there probably won't be any blogging next week.

It was a day of mourning yesterday. Sister Monson passed away yesterday morning as well.

My mom took me and my sister out shopping after I stopped crying. She wanted to buy us a new outfit for the funeral. It was fun but hard. I had fun buying a new skirt, but it was hard because I knew I'd be wearing it for my Uncle's funeral.

I hope I can hold it together to get through next week. I think I will. I haven't been to a funeral in over 10 years.

I will miss my Uncle, but I know he is in a better place, and that gives me comfort.

Book Club

After a lot of contemplation, I decided to put an end to my book club. I didn't really see it going anywhere, and only 2-3 of us showed up each month. I was sad about it, but I realized it was for the best. I didn't want to put a lot of time into something that wasn't going anywhere.

After making this announcement on Twitter, my friend Suey invited me to be a part of her book club. I was super excited and graciously accepted! I feel like this book club will be a better fit for me. I'll get to read a wider variety and more challenging books! An added bonus is that Suey lives pretty close to me! I will also be able to see some of my blogger buddies on a monthly basis instead of the next author event, so I'm way excited about that!

I think this change is for the best, and I'm excited to meet new people and talk about books.

My Hubby's Stocking

Fun Fact about me:  I cross stitch.

I have been working on cross stitching my family some stockings.  I finished gnome's stocking a couple years ago, and she loves it, as do I!  I finally finished my hubby's stocking last week!!
Ta Da!  Well, it isn't done in this picture, but the cross stitch part is!

Ta Da!  The finished product!  My sister helped cut it out and sew it.  It turned out awesome!  My hubby really loves it!!

The stockings look so great hanging up in our home!  I feel really proud of them.  Sadly, I still need to make a stocking for me.  Mine looks really out of place.  I am going to take a break though.  These things take months, sometimes years, to finish!!

Reading in Bed

Went to get my little gnome up from her nap and found this:

Can't say I blame her, I read myself to sleep too.  I was actually kinda proud.
I love having a little bookworm!

Templeton

We have been rodentless since January....that is very weird for us.
We usually have at least 1, if not multiple, rodents in our home.
It is time we had another.
It just isn't right for the Furr home to be vacant of critters.

SO!!

Introducing!

Templeton (best rat name ever!)

Isn't he a cutie!?!?!?  We love him.

We went to Smith's to get some groceries, and I wanted to walk into Petco...just to "look".
Ya...that never happens.
We stopped and looked at the rodents, and a nice employee let us hold a few rats.
The big guy just caught our attention.
He was so sweet, and he wasn't scared of us at all.
It was meant to be!
