Star Wars #41 - #45

Star Wars #41From Goodreads:    The Leviathan is heading for the remains of Jedha, prepared to pick the carcass of the once-holy planet clean. But with Luke Skywalker torn between his allegiance to the Rebellion and pursuing the path of a Jedi, who will lead the charge against the Empire?

My Thoughts:

-    The comic translates what Benthic is saying, but do all the characters understand Torgath? No one has mentioned the language barrier, and Benthic never speaks basic.

-    I wish the whole Jedi stuff on Jedha was explained. I don't understand where Luke is and why it is important.

-    Han and Leia in a speeder is awesome!

-    What was Chewie doing? What was his mission? Why aren't they explaining things?

Star Wars #42 The Ashes of Jedha, Part VGoodreads Says Again:    The Leviathan is heading for the remains of Jedha, prepared to pick the carcass of the once-holy planet clean. But with Luke Skywalker torn between his allegiance to the Rebellion and pursuing the path of a Jedi, who will lead the charge against the Empire?

My Thoughts:

-    I'm seriously thinking of switching over to the trade books. They will sit better on my shelves, and I can get larger chunks of story at once. I just don't like the idea of having individual comics and trade books. I like everything to match. Maybe someone out there would trade me. I don't know! Anyone want to buy my comics?

-    The story has turned into A New Hope. They get the plans to the giant weapon they can't hurt and find its weakness.

-    I love that Luke reflects on Jyn and the Rogue One crew, and he connects how he couldn't have destroyed the Death Star without them.

-    There are some great Han moments in this issue.

Star Wars (2015-) #43From Goodreads:    THE ASHES OF JEDHA CONCLUDES! The battle between the Empire and the Rebellion over the Kyber mines of Jedha comes to an explosive conclusion…with help coming from the most unexpected source.

My Thoughts:

-    I haven't read these in a while, so I don't remember what is going on.

-    Everything wrapped up all nice in this issue, and it was good to see Han take command.

-    The artwork is fantastic in this issue. It almost looks like photos.

Star Wars (2015-) #44Goodreads Says:    THE REBELLION NEEDS YOU! The Empire takes from all of us — our freedom, our dignity, our hopes and for some, even our lives. The Rebel Alliance fights to take back our galaxy from the forces of oppression…but we need your help! Be a part of the solution — JOIN THE REBELLION TODAY!

My Thoughts:

-    The cover looks like an old war poster.

-    The synopsis sounds like an old war ad.

-    Hooray! Admiral Ackbar is in this issue. I wish he had larger roles in the comics and books. I want to get to know him better. Maybe this is my chance!

-    Ha! I love when Han "handles" situations.

-    I'm glad they kept the same artist from the last storyline. They should just keep him around permanently.

-    This was a really fun issue. I love seeing Leia be all diplomatic and Han being Han.

Star Wars (2015-) #45From Goodreads:    THE REBELLION NEEDS YOU!

-    What is it with Luke and weird colored milk? Why does he like it so much?

-    OMG!! Hera and Zeb are in this issue! They are part of a crowd, and they don't say anything, but they are there!!

-    I love the way Leia handled the shape shifter. She is awesome!

-    This was a fun issue. I like that Wedge made an appearance, and other pilots from Red Squadron got to honor the pilots they lost in the Death Star battle.

Star Wars #33 - #40

35603770From Goodreads:    The Hero of the Rebellion & the Princess of the Revolution! Luke and Leia finally get some time alone. Unfortunately, it's stranded on a desert island.

My Thoughts:

-    I love that Leia is a take charge kind of lady, and I love that she isn't afraid to do what is takes to get things done.

-    The monologue that Leia has throughout this issue is kinda weird.

-    I'm not sure what the point of this issue was, but it was fun.

-    I'm excited for the next issue with Lando in it!

36050786From Goodreads:    Sana and Lando join forces on Coruscant to swindle some credits!

My Thoughts:

-    These last two issues have been interesting.

-    I was hoping for more of Lando's charm and whatever, but this issue focused completely on Sana.

-    I don't understand why Sana is really needed in the series.

36149650From Goodreads   Han and Chewie go back to smuggling…for a Hutt?!

My Thoughts:

-    I loved Han's meeting with Mon Mothma. They really nailed Han's personality there. I love moments when the character's personality really comes out.

-    I like the artwork in this issue a lot. It is very realistic.

-    This issue was classic Han Solo! I loved it!

-    The In Memoriam segment about Flo Steinberg was great! I love that there is a page dedicated to her.

36232761From Goodreads   The Empire has held Threepio captive for far too long. There's no way they are prepared to deal with this rescue. That's right — Artoo is ready to take action!

My Thoughts:

-    Take a moment to just appreciate the cover. I love it! R2 surrounded by storm trooper corpses. Awesome!

-    I can't remember C3-PO getting captured, but it sounds like something that would happen to him.

-    This is one of the greatest comics I've ever read!! R2-D2 uses all sorts of tricks to take down the storm troopers! Ha!

-    A KX Security Droid makes and appearance!!! Hooray!

-    R2 is the real hero of Star Wars.

36349335Goodreads Says:    Scar Squadron is back...with their deadliest attack yet!

My Thoughts:

-    Whoever designed the Overlord, did an awesome job!

-    The artwork is awesome! I love all the action scenes, especially with Sergeant Kreel.

-    Sergeant Kreel's monologue got a bit over dramatic.

-    This issue had a very somber ending. I like that the series shows the war against the empire in a more daunting way.

-    I was confused by the short story at the end, but then Obi-Wan showed up.

36557859Goodreads Synopsis:    THE ASHES OF JEDHA! The Rebel Alliance turns its attention to the shattered planet of Jedha! But what is there to find on the devastated planet?

My Thoughts:

-    OMGoodness!! This issue ties in with Rogue One!

-    This issue was mostly setup, so not a lot happened, but I'm excited to see a character from Rogue One!

Star Wars #39From Goodreads   THE ASHES OF JEDHA! Once the site of great significance to the Jedi, Jedha was left in ruins when the Death Star annihilated the Holy City there. Now, new series writer Kieron Gillen joins artist Salvador Larroca to bring Luke, Leia, Han, and the rest to the remains of the tragic victim of the Empire's fury!

My Thoughts:

-    The artwork is amazing. It almost looks like photos.

-    I wish they had talked more about Jyn and what she did.

-    Who is this new admiral dude and queen lady? They need to explain things better.

Star Wars #40From Goodreads:    ASHES OF JEDHA part 3! As Queen Trios' forces move in to strip what's left of Jedha, the Rebellion and the remaining Partisans struggle to save the planet for its survivors! The echoes of Rogue One continue to be heard through the Rebellion!

My Thoughts:

-    I kinda think I should start buying the trade books so I have the whole story at once, but it is so fun to get the individual comics. *sigh*

-    Ha! I love when Han sweet talks to the Falcon.

-    Awwwww! This issue contains Leia and Bail's last words to each other, so sad!

-    Does there need to be a giant sandworm in every universe!?

-    This issue was pretty packed. I'm surprised with how much they fit into so few pages.

Screaming Citadel and Star Wars #31 - #32

35108134Goodreads Synopsis:    "THE SCREAMING CITADEL" — PART 1 Rebel pilot and rogue archaeologist wander side by side into the darkest shadows of the galaxy as Luke Skywalker reluctantly teams up with Doctor Aphra! The Doctor makes Luke an offer he can't afford to pass up…one that leads him to a very rare gathering at the heart of the infamous Screaming Citadel. Will Luke find what he's looking for? Can Aphra be trusted? Or will they both wind up victims of the Citadel's Queen?

My Thoughts:

-    I'm not reading the Doctor Aphra series, but I like when they crossovers like this.

-    The artwork is wonderful! I really like how the characters are portrayed.

-    I like Doctor Aphra. I hope we get to see her in a movie sometime.

-    The party and everything is something I haven't seen in the Star Wars universe before. It was really cool.

-    I'm not sure what happened in the last couple of pages, but it was creepy.

35158800From Goodreads:    "THE SCREAMING CITADEL" — PART 2 While Luke and Aphra face the Queen of the Citadel…Han and Leia are coming…for Aphra?!

My Thoughts:

-    I always love seeing Han on a cover.

-    That was a really fun issue.

-    I liked the dialogue between the Queen and Aphra. They were both trying to play each other.

-    Some of the illustrations of the faces look real. It is awesome.

35262941From Goodreads:    “THE SCREAMING CITADEL” — PART 3. The Queen’s parasites are spreading. Things don’t look good for Han.

My Thoughts:

-    Yay! Another Han cover!

-    Why is the artwork so different? They couldn't have the same artist for Star Wars and Doctor Aphra? I'm not a fan of this cartoony look.

-    I loved the classic Han moment when he says, "I've got a blaster." Ha!

-    I love that evil protocol droid. He cracks me up with his ruthlessness.

-    Those parasites are creepy things. They need to be exterminated.

35432462Goodreads Says:    "THE SCREAMING CITADEL" – Part 4 The Queen's influence is spreading…Our only hope lies in the kindness of scoundrels.

My Thoughts:

-    Aphra isn't in the other movies, so I'm assuming she dies at some point. I love her character, but at the same time, she is confusing. I can't pin her down.

-    I love those murderous droids so much!

-    I really doubt the gang went through all this between two movies. I feel like their characters and skills would have been magnified a ton!

35528972From Goodreads:    "THE SCREAMING CITADEL" — PART 5 Jedi! Symbiotes! Rebels! Murderbots! Smugglers! Archaeologists! This one has it all! But can any survive the horrors of the Screaming Citadel?

My Thoughts:

-    The switch in art style is really weird!

-    Everything wrapped up way too quickly and conveniently.

-    I love how looked overpowered the parasite and killed the queen. Awesome!

-    I was wondering if I should buy the Doctor Aphra series, but now I'm glad I'm not reading them. Aphra just isn't for me. I'm glad I read this crossover series though.
