Beauty and the Beast

My Thoughts:

-    I wasn't going to go see this in theaters, but I needed a night out, and I didn't know what else to see. It was the first time I've gone to a movie alone. It wasn't so bad.

-    I have been really skeptical of this movie. I love the animated film so much, and I was scared of what they were going to do to it. I wasn't happy with what I was seeing and hearing in the trailers.

-    The movie wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. There were a lot of good things going on. It was alright.

-    I really wish Emma Watson's singing had been dubbed. It was painfully obvious that she had been auto tuned, and it hurt the ears. She also had to cut notes short because she couldn't sustain them. Other than the singing, I really liked Watson as Belle. She fit the role.

-    I didn't like Beast's face. It was too CG. When Beast turns back into a man, it wasn't horrible. I was really happy that he looked better as a man. Thank the maker for Dan Stevens not have a horrible nose, chin, and huge eyebrows. It is my only complaint about the animated film. Every time that animated dude turns around, I yell, "Change him back!" Not the case here! Thank you!

-    In the trailers, I wasn't sure about Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Mrs. Potts, but in the end, I really liked them. The bantering between Lumiere and Cogsworth made me laugh.

-    I liked what they did with the Maurice and Lefou characters. Their roles adapted into something more. Maurice was a more prominent character, and they showed his love and protectiveness over Belle. It was sweet to see a loving father figure. This version of Lefou had a bit more backbone, and I loved that. As for the "gay" moment in the movie. It was totally a publicity stunt, and I'm not even sure you could call it a gay moment.

-    Overall, it was good. I wouldn't buy it or anything, but it was better than I was expecting.

The BFG

My Thoughts:

-    Gnome and Hubby took me to see this for my birthday last week. It was fun!

-    This was the first Roald Dahl book Gnome and I read together. We loved the book, and we enjoyed the movie. It was a good adaptation.

-    Gnome was captivated the whole time, and she laughed a lot.

-    The BFG looks just like Quentin Blake's illustration. It is awesome! The animators did a create job.

-    The CG is pretty good. I was worried that the giants would look fake, but they looked good.

-    The BFG is the most endearing giant. I loved him! The voice actor did a perfect job!

-    All the characters were brought to life perfectly. The actors and actresses were brilliant.

-    The sets were awesome!

Gnome's Thoughts:

-    I liked the whole thing.

Hubby's Thoughts:

-    Overall impression was good.

-    The BFG was very much like the book describes.

-    I liked how much they stuck to the story line.

-    I really really liked the snozzcumbers.

-    The acting was good.

-    They did a good job with the dreams.

Zootopia

My Thoughts:

-    I LOVED this movie!! It was so much fun!

-    All the animals were SO SO cute! The animators did an amazing job!

-    Voice actors were great! I loved Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin's performances. Great job!

-    I loved the environment. The world of Zootopia is somewhere I want to live. I love how the city was sectioned off into different climates and sizes. Brilliant!

-    Disney hasn't done an anthropomorphic movie for a while, and I'm so glad they finally made another one. Hooray for John Lassiter!!

-    There are so many great moments throughout the film, but my favorite scene is the DMV with Flash the Sloth! OMGoodness!! It cracks me up every time!

-    Not only is this movie eye candy with fun characters, but the story is very well done. There are so many great morals, and I love how the movie touches on race and differences in a very tasteful and humorous manner.

-    Great great movie that the whole family will love!

Cinderella

My Thoughts:

-    This a very cute and charming movie, but it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be.

-    I loved the twist on Sleeping Beauty that Maleficent brought to the screen, and I was hoping for a great twist on Cinderella, but I was disappointed. This was a pretty classic Cinderella story.

-    While charming, it was a bit corny. I was hoping this movie was for adults as well as children, but I felt it was geared more towards kids.

-    Since it was corny and nothing new, I kinda wish they had just done the Rogers and Hammerstein's version.

-    The whole movie was a feast for the eyes! The costumes, the sets, and everything was visually stunning.

-    The cast was perfect! I loved Lily James as Cinderella! She was perfect. The prince wasn't too shabby either. I love Helena Bonham Carter, but I wanted more of her!

-    It has always bugged me that Cinderella forgets she is nobility. She isn't a servant! She is a lady! It doesn't matter what her stepmother thought. I wish she had walked up the prince and said her name was Ella and she was lady of the house.

-    Ella put up with a lot. I agree that is good to always be kind, but you shouldn't let others push you around either.

-    The mice were cute, but again, a little corny.

-    I love how they used the song Lavender Blue. I remember that song from my childhood, and I've always loved it. They changed the lyrics a bit, but I stilled loved it.

Big Hero 6

My Thoughts:

-    I didn't know anything about this movie except that it won an Oscar. I didn't see very much advertising for it. I finally saw it, and I loved it!

-    I like how this movie is a cross between Stargate SG-1 and the Marvel Universe. It had replicators and the stargate, but it also had awesome gadgets and an origin story.

-    I loved all the Stitch easter eggs. They were fun to see. Yes! I caught Stan Lee's picture as soon as it showed it. I was thrilled! It really completed that Marvel super hero movie feel for me.

-    I loved all the characters, especially Baymax. Even though he is a robot, he had a lot of great moments and a lot of personality. Fist bumps have changed for me!

-    Go Go is me! I've had that haircut. I haven't done the purple stripe (yet), but I've had that haircut, and she looks like me! Plus the lady that does her voice is Korean.

-    I loved the use of real tech. The creators really did their research and based all the cool tech in the movie on real tech.

-    The short at the beginning is SO CUTE!!! I love that dog! I love how the love story was told from the dog's perspective and his love for food. Great short feature!

-    This movie is very heart warming and very clean. It is a great family movie that anyone can watch and enjoy.

Fantasia

My Thoughts:

-    This movie is very underrated and unappreciated. I loved watching this growing up.

-    The colors and lights dancing in the first number are mesmerizing. I kinda go into a little trance while watching this part.

-    I love the cute little mushroom!

-    I like how they portrayed The Nutcracker with nature. It is fun to go through the different seasons, and I like how the fairies help bring in the new season. I also like how different cultures were represented with flowers and other plants.

-    The Sorcerer's Apprentice is such a classic!

-    I could never figure out how Mickey turns the pages of the giant book while he is sitting on it.

-    The dinosaur story is sad but awesome. The art style is very beautiful.

-    I love the sound track. I think it's cute.

-    I like the Greek mythology stuff. It was my favorite when I was kid.

-    I never noticed the topless centaurs before. Yeesh!

-    The hippos, ostriches, elephants, and alligators are hilarious!

-    I don't watch the last piece because I don't feel like it's appropriate. I love the music, but the imagery is disturbing.

-    I wish that Disney had continued creating the Fantasia series like he wanted. I was really excited when Fantasia 2000 came out. I hope we get another one soon.

Maleficent

My Thoughts:

-    It was dark and bit creepy. I liked it a lot!

-    I'm not an Angelina Jolie fan, but I thought this was a perfect role for her. She looked the part, and I loved the way she delivered her lines.

-    The story was intriguing. I really love anti-hero tales, and this one was no exception. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie.

-    The CG was good. I liked the scenery and creatures a lot. The fairy's faces were a little weird, but the rest was good.

-    I loved the scenes with Maleficent flying. I want wings!

-    I noticed a few Middle Earth people in the wood creatures. There was a balrog and Sauron.

-    The kissing scene took FOREVER!! Phillip took his sweet time, and it was ugh!

-    I wish they had used Tchaikovsky's music in the film. It would have been awesome.

-    Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. I'll probably buy it.
