The BFG

My Thoughts:

-    Gnome and Hubby took me to see this for my birthday last week. It was fun!

-    This was the first Roald Dahl book Gnome and I read together. We loved the book, and we enjoyed the movie. It was a good adaptation.

-    Gnome was captivated the whole time, and she laughed a lot. 

-    The BFG looks just like Quentin Blake's illustration. It is awesome! The animators did a create job.

-    The CG is pretty good. I was worried that the giants would look fake, but they looked good.

-    The BFG is the most endearing giant. I loved him! The voice actor did a perfect job! 

-    All the characters were brought to life perfectly. The actors and actresses were brilliant. 

-    The sets were awesome!

Gnome's Thoughts:

-    I liked the whole thing.

Hubby's Thoughts:

-    Overall impression was good.

-    The BFG was very much like the book describes.

-    I liked how much they stuck to the story line.

-    I really really liked the snozzcumbers.

-    The acting was good.

-    They did a good job with the dreams.

The BFG

Goodreads Synopsis:    Captured by a giant! The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater, the Bonecruncher, or any of the other giants-rather than the BFG-she would have soon become breakfast. 

When Sophie hears that they are flush-bunking off in England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!

My Thoughts:

-    This is a very charming and endearing book! I loved sharing it with my 5 year old daughter.

-    This was really fun to read aloud. It was fun to say all the funny different words and speak for the BFG.

-    The illustrations are awesome! I love Dahl and Quentin Blake together. These books would be incomplete without Blake's fun and whimsical illustrations.

-    Despite the story being short, it is filled with wonder and imagination. Roald Dahl is a master storyteller.

-    I look forward to sharing more Roald Dahl and his delightful stories with my daughter!

Right after finishing the book, I asked Gnome what she thought, and these were her comments. Warning! There are spoilers!

Gnome's Thoughts:

-    I liked how they captured the giants.

-    My favorite part was when the giant was given a nightmare.

-    I liked how the BFG talked funny.

-    I liked when they fed the giants snozzcumbers.

-    The BFG was funny.

Fan Art Friday: The BFG

I have waited a long time to share some childhood favorites like E.B. White and Roald Dahl with my daughter, and she is finally ready for me to read them to her. The book we are reading right now has inspired today's fan art.

I wasn't sure what I would find. I thought I might only find Quentin Blake's stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there are some Quentin Blake inspired fan art, but there is also some very unique things as well.

The last two are my favorite, particularly the last one. I like the cartoony one for the artwork and the scene it represents, but I love the last one because it is how I would imagine the BFG if we didn't have Quentin Blake's illustrations.
