Mockingjay: Party 1

Last night my friends, their hubbies, and I watched Mockingjay Part 1!
This has been a tradition since The Hunger Games.

Before the movie, we ate dinner at Wingers.

Here is Suey, Stuey, and Tori.

Here is me and Jenni

Here are the peeps in the theater.

I need to steal some more pics. We took some fun ones in front the giant cardboard display.

My Thoughts:

-    Wow! That was awesome and heart wrenching! I loved it!

-    The casting for these movies have been perfect. Jennifer Lawrence is so amazing as Katniss. She is so believable. They way she portrayed Katniss's PTSD was incredible. The way she shakes and shows emotion is so real!

-    I loved the design of District 13. There were things that were exactly like I pictured them. The same goes for the rest of Panem.

-    Oh Peeta! Watching that was harder than reading it.

-    I've been so impressed with these movies. I'm pretty hard on movies, especially when I've read the books, but these movies are great! They capture the heart and emotion of the books. They make me feel the same emotions. They capture the characters perfectly.

-    I really liked the part where Katniss sings.

-    My only complaint is that there was a lot of monkey cam. I had a to close my eyes for a few seconds on one part because I couldn't handle the super shakiness. There was a part where lights flashed in the camera, and that hurt.

-    I felt like the movie went by too fast. I didn't want it to end. I wanted more!

-    I want the next movie!!! I don't want to wait a year!!! I might have to re-read the books to satisfy my hunger.

Catching Fire

On Thursday, I went to see Catching Fire!!!! It was awesome, but first, I had a delightful dinner party with friends.
I'm going to be lazy and not name people. Although I will say, I totally whipped Jenni's hubby in a game of wits! It was fun, I haven't been able to banter like that for a long long time.

And now:

My Thoughts:

-    I enjoyed Hunger Games, but I loved Catching Fire. It was much better! They improved so much, including the monkey camera! It was more accurate, and OH the emotions!

-    The casting was perfect!! All the new characters introduced were perfect for their roles. Finnick and Joanna were spot on awesome!

-    The whole movie was intense and thrilling. There were parts where I was shaking.

-    The ending is a HUGE cliffhanger! Luckily I was prepared because I've read the books. For those of you who haven't read them (shame on you), you are are going to be mad!

-    Jennifer Lawrence IS Katniss!! She is an amazing actor. Her emotions are so raw and real. I don't know how she does it.

-    I really loved how they portrayed Prim. She is maturing, growing, and getting her own strength.

-    My only complaint was the kissing. Katniss was giving out kisses to Gale and Peeta like it was nothing. She might as well hand out some kissing to Finnick, Beetee, and Haymitch while she was at it.

-    Overall, it was brilliant! Go see it! Watch The Hunger Games first though.

The Hunger Games

Last night/this morning, I had the pleasure of seeing The Hunger Games movie!!!  Ya, I was one of the crazy people at the midnight showing.
I had the pleasure of going with a bunch of book bloggers and company.  I met a lot of really awesome people, and I had a super great time!!

Now without further delay:

My Thoughts:

-    The movie was good....really good!  If you love the books, the movie will not disappoint you.  There were a lot of scenes that were just spot on!  The emotions are all there!  It was a bit thrilling.

-    The casting was perfect.  I think Jennifer Lawrence channeled Katniss's character perfectly.  I was worried about Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, but he delivered!  Stanley Tucci made me laugh every time I saw him, and Rue...she just steals your heart.  I was really happy with the overall casting.

-    (for Andrea)  Gale was a good looking lad, but I'm still a big Peeta fan.  Peeta has a bit of Gilbert Blytheness to him.  He has had a huge crush on Katniss for forever, he is a really good guy, he has a sense of innocence about him, etc.  Who doesn't love a good Gilbert type of guy?

-    The capitol looks like Naboo.

-    The use of music and lack of music was great!  When the sound would cut off, my heart would drop.  It was really well done.

-    My only complaint was I felt like a monkey was holding the camera for some of the movie.  I would have liked a steadier view of things.

-    There are only a few changes from the book, and they were super minor.  I wish all movies could be this accurate!  This is probably the best book to movie since Lord of the Rings.
