A Darkness at Sethanon

A Darkness at Sethanon (The Riftwar Saga, #4)Goodreads Synopsis:    An evil wind blows through Midkemia. Dark legions have risen up to crush the Kingdom of the Isles and enslave it to dire magics. The final battle between Order and Chaos is abotu to begin in the ruins of the city called Sethanon.

Now Pug, the master magician sometimes known as Milamber, must undertake an awesome and perilous quest to the dawn of time to grapple with an ancient and terrible Enemy for the fate of a thousand worlds.

My Thoughts:

-    Wow!! What an epic journey! This was a fabulous end to The Riftwar Saga.

-    So many years and so many things transpire in this series. It was like reading about each character's lifetime.

-    I love Martin, Arutha, and Lyam's relationship. They are so great as brothers, and I love how they support one another.

-    The strategys in this book is incredible. Feist must have spent a long time thinking and studying these battles. The battle at Armengar was awesome!

-    The parts about Pug and Tomas were great, but a little slow. There was a lot of stuff there that I didn't quite understand.

-    The traitor Guy makes an appearance again. I have a deeper understanding of his character, and I even respect him now.

-    Amos Trask also come back! I was pretty excited to see him again! He is one of my favorites. He gets some of the best dialogue.

-    I liked the camaraderie between Jimmy and Locklear. They make a great team and compliment each other really well.

-    I'm so glad are a lot more books with these characters cause I am craving more!

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

My Thoughts:

-    Another John Hughes hit!! This movie was hilarious!!

-    I don't like John Candy with a mustache. It looks weird.

-    I love Steve Martin's hat! It is very classy.

-    Kevin Bacon had a small role in this movie, it was kinda weird.

-    This kinda reminds me of Tommy Boy.

-    Neal's wife looks way younger than him, and her face looks razor sharp.

-    I was wondering why this was rated R. There is nothing in it except Neal's rant. There is an f-bomb every other word! Other than that, it's clean.

-    Oh, there are a few dirty jokes.

-    John Candy's boogie in the car is hilariously funny!

-    I love John Candy's laugh. It is so unique.

-    I can't believe Del passed off shower rings as earrings! He is a master salesman!!

-    Steven Martin and John Candy are fantastic together.

-    The best part of the movie is when they squeeze between the two semi's! I almost busted a gut!!

Hubby's Thoughts:

-    It was a good movie.

-    It ended sappy and happy.

Tyson's Thoughts:

-    John Candy is fantastic!

-    The car burning was excellent.

-    I enjoyed the movie.

-    If Dave and I got lost, our trip would be like that.

It's the End of the World as We Know It

Since the world was supposed to end today, I thought I'd share some of my thoughts on a song that I'm sure many of us will be singing today.

My Thoughts:

-    It's that one song we've all heard a hundred times, but we still only know the chorus.

-    I tried learning all the lyrics once.  It was my life goal, but I gave up.  My tongue doesn't move that fast.  You'd think it would considering I'm a clarinet player, but no.  I couldn't spit the words out fast enough!

-    I love that everyone loves to sing along with this song even though we don't know the lyrics.

-    This song is so old, but somehow it never gets old to me.

-    How true is this song?  If the world were really ending, would you be fine?  I'd like to hope I would be.

-    This came out the same year I was born!

-    My hubby likes to sing the back singer part on the chorus.  I didn't really pay much attention to it until I met him.  Now I like to sing that part too.

-    Good ole REM.

-    This is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day now.

Roxanne

My Thoughts:

-    This was a modern twist on the classic Cyrano de Bergerac.  I like the original better...MUCH better.

-    I liked the saxophone in the opening song, but I'm a sax lover.

-    Steve Martin's little song at the beginning made me laugh.

-    His white socks with dark pants and shoes really bugged me.  Through the whole movie, all I could see were those darn socks!!

-    I like how CD got the cat out of the tree, and I liked the 20 funnier come backs.  Those were the best parts of the movie.

-    The first half of the movie was a comedy and I laughed a lot, but the 2nd half was kinda dumb.  It went all chick flick and mushy.

-    Chris was DUMB!!!  Wholly cow!!  What an IDIOT!!  He wasn't even as hot as he was supposed to be.

-    The leading lady didn't really convince me that she was intelligent.  She seemed almost as dumb as Christ...not quite as dumb, but almost.
