Bookish Memories

This is another tough one. I decided to highlight books from my childhood that have impacted my life. Because as Meg Ryan so eloquently said in You've Got Mail, "When you read a book as a child, it becomes part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does."

I'm going rogue for this last eleventh "bookish thing" on the list.

Huge shout out to Wishbone. I gained a love for classics and reading from this dog! I was a devoted viewer as a kid. I never missed an episode. I wish he was still around, and I wish he was streaming somewhere for me and my kids to watch.

  2. The Little Princess was one of my favorite books growing up. I was a little older when I read the Harry Potter books, but they still had a big impact. :D

    1. I love The Little Princess. I remember reading it for first time in middle school, and I was in awe. I read the first Harry Potter book when I was 12, so I grew up right along with Harry.

  4. I didn’t start reading the Harry Potter books till the Time Magazine article that came out when Azkaban was published. I went into Barnes and Noble and bought the paperback of the first book, and then went outside to read on a bench. I got about ten pages in when I stormed back into the store to ask if I could return the book, and then I promptly bought the first three in hardback. That was a good day.

  5. I also enjoyed The Little Princess but LOVED all the Anne of Green Gables books. They still sit on my shelf. I was sad my daughter didn't love them as much as I do :)

    1. I haven't shared Anne of Green Gables with my daughter yet. I'm nervous she won't like them.

  7. WISHBOOOONE! He made it to my list too, in passing. I'm so baffled that show isn't streaming anywhere, and it's even hard to buy. I also think this would be a PRIME candidate for a reboot -- I can't believe the sheer force of Millenial nostalgia hasn't brought this into existence.

On another note, omg, Stone Fox. Few books broke my innocent little child heart THAT hard. I never read Where The Red Fern Grows, but I defy it to hit harder than this.
