Batman Adventures

21532181From Goodreads:    From the padded cells of Arkham Asylum to the mean streets of Crime Alley, one truth is whispered wherever evil gathers: Gotham City belongs to the Batman.

Until now! The crimelord formerly known as the Penguin is now Mayor Oswald Cobblepot -- elected to be Gotham's leader by promising to outlaw vigilantes and villains alike. The immortal mastermind Ra's al Ghul has ordered an invasion of assassins - not to destroy the Dark Knight, but to eliminate his enemies…permanently. And a two-bit hood called the Black Mask is forming a deadly new masked mob.

Outlawed. Outnumbered. On the run. Batman's greatest battle for the soul of Gotham City is about to begin!

The creative team of Ty Templeton, Dan Slott, Rick Burchett, Tyler Beatty, and more proudly present BATMAN ADVENTURES VOL. 1 - a collection of all-original stories that are thrilling, moving, and just plain fun for readers of all ages. Collects issues #1-10.

My Thoughts:

-    I love that these comics are based on the 90s Animated Batman series! This will always be the best Batman to me! No on can top Kevin Conroy!

-    Reading this was like watching the TV show. It was awesome!

-    I liked the variety of villains they used in the different issues.

My Thoughts:

-    This series is just delightful! I love it!

-    The artwork is awesome! I loved The Animated Series style, and it will always be my favorite rendition of Batman, and the hottest!

-    They nailed the dialogue and personality of each character. I could hear Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and rest of the cast voices while reading this.

-    I really liked the Batgirl issue with all the amazing female characters!

-    Again, these issues use a variety of villains that I love.

-    I really LOVE that Commissioner Gordon had his time to shine. He isn't a useless cop, and he is a vital resource for Gotham.

-    The last issue in this volume was weird but funny.

25241781Goodreads Says:    Mirroring the iconic style of the four-time Emmy Award-winning Batman: The Animated Series, experience the comic that proved as groundbreaking as its television counterpart, in all-ages stories that feature the Dark Knight’s fiercest adversaries, greatest allies and all-new threats to Gotham City!

THE BATMAN ADVENTURES VOL. 3 collects issues #21-27 and THE BATMAN ADVENTURES ANNUAL #1, featuring stories by writers PAUL DINI (BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY, ZATANNA) and KELLY PUCKETT (BATMAN: NO MAN’S LAND, BATGIRL) and artists BRUCE TIMM (BATMAN ADVENTUES: MAD LOVE) and RICK BURCHETT (SUPERMAN ADVENTURES).

My Thoughts:

-    This volume was still enjoyable, but it was my least favorite of the 3 volumes.

-    Did we really need an issue with Superman in it? Ugh! He totally slowed Batman down. Stupid Superman!

-    I really liked seeing Batgirl and Robin working together.

-    The fake Batman looked like Adam West's Batman! Ha!

-    Very fun series! These were a rare impulse buy for me, and I'm glad I got them.

  1. I loved the old animated series! Cool that this is based on those. I'd probably like them, though, I do have to admit I never got The Penguin as a villain.
